The gallery is hosting a special exhibit of figurative paintings by Chinese artist Xue Gien Xin, recently completed oil paintings by this master of genre paintings of the Chinese people and their culture.
Annapolis artist Gail Higginbotham will be in attendance to demonstrate painting landscapes and still life with oil pastels. An admirer of Manet’s bold painterly still lifes and Wolf Kahn’s colorful and powerful landscapes, Gail’s paintings are strong interpretive statements of her surroundings. The gallery will also have a special trunk show of Mediterranean Artist’s Jewelry made from glass fragements from the first and sixth centuries A.D. This Roman Byzantine glass with its unique rich patinas coupled with sterling silver creates unique one-of-a-kind jewelry.
The gallery has an exhibit of Paul McGehee’s well-known historical harbor views of Annapolis, Washington, DC and Baltimore originally completed as large format oil paintings and then published into limited edition prints. On exhibit will be some of the rare sold out editions.
On exhibit will be 18th, 19th and early 20th century American and European paintings including works by William Baptiste Baird, Robert Brackman, Frederick Cozzens, Stephen Csoka, Gilbert Gaul, Louis Feuchter, Clark Marshall, Frederick Seeth, John Pattison, and Helen Searle. Annapolitan Rob Wood, illustrator of best selling book covers, will be present to demonstrate his painting techniques. State Circle
Master potter Ian Stainton from the Carlisle College of Art and Design in Cumbria, England will be on hand to demonstrate his throwing techniques. Stainton’s work has been featured in a number of ceramic publications. Light refreshments will be served.
Inside: See over 100 original Marion Warren photographs on view and available to collectors. Guest artist, Mame Warren will greet visitors and show her father’s rare silver gelatin photographs and out-of-print books. Refeshments: strawberries and white wine, as well as ice cream from the Annapolis Ice Cream Store.
On exhibit is ”Color and Texture” featuring artists Winnie Coggins and Stan Wenocur. Winnie Coggins, an accomplished ceramicist, presents new figurative works and Stan Wenocur introduces new abstract oil paintings in this inventive two-artist exhibition. Cerilo Lopezz will also exhibit recent oil paintings. Church Circle James Dean will release new original prints of “Pete the Cat” as Annapolis icons. Loree Gunn will demonstrate lampworking glass beads and jewelry; and Jimmy Reynolds will share his folk art painting techniques. 10% donation to be made to CBF for Chesapeake Bay art. Live Music!

Inside: Watch Ann Munro Wood put the final touches on a 6-foot oil on canvas portrait. Tour the new exhibit of oils and watercolors by Roxie Munro, Bruce Braithwaite, Ann Munro Wood, and the Charter 300 ArtWalk artists Sally Wern Comport, Sy Mohr, Greg Harlin, George “Lassie” Belt. Exhibit also includes photographs from the Marion Warren, Charles Emery, and Bo Zaunders collections.
Kevin Madison will be present to share his new exhibit of photographs including portraits, landscapes and abstracts.
Maryland realist artist, Frank Robertson will exhibit new oil paintings: summer landscape views around the Chesapeake and marine scenes of skipjacks, small dories and local harbors and inlets. Frank will also demonstrate the techniques of painting in oil with a palette knife. Main Street
Exhibit & oil demonstration by Bill Schmidt, a noted American Impressionist plein air painter of landscape and marine scenes from Annapolis to Maine. Award winning watercolorist Bruce Handford will exhibit & demonstrate his unique painting techniques for his fresh lively scenes of the Outer Banks and Annapolis. Four gallery artists will demonstrate and exhibit their artistry. Alice Webb will demonstrate etchings, from scratching a metal plate, to acid bath to inking and pulling finished impressions. Jane Tukarski, a member of ASMA, will demonstrate scrimshaw, a folk art originating during the whaling era, using fossil ivory to create wildlife, landscapes or florals designs on jewelry, belt buckles and knife handles. Elizabeth Collard will show her internationally recognized skills painting on silk using watercolor techniques. Carolyn Councell, a Baltimore Watercolor Society member, will demonstrate plein air watercolor painting in her expressionistic colorful style.
Introducing a new artist, Louis Poole of Richmond, VA, the gallery will convert the upstairs into a ‘working’ studio to display Poole working on the stages of a painting in process. Poole’s architectural paintings were recently juried into the current edition of ”New American Paintings.” Photography and sculpture by gallery artists will also be on exhibit. Artists Andrea Sauer, Andrew Katz and John Day will demonstrate and exhibit their work. Watercolorist Andrea Sauer will demonstrate her painting techniques with flowers. John Day, a wood carver of ducks and birds of the Chesapeake region will be carving a blue heron. He continues to win awards from Harve de Grace to Ocean City in carving competitions. In 2006, his prize winning Bufflehead duck graced the Ducks Unlimited calendar. Andrew Katz, who is known in the region as a fine watercolorist and art educator, will be creating a new work to compliment his crab series. Russell Levi will exhibit his film negative photographs of the Chesapeake Bay wetlands and water, including wooden schooners, waterfowl and regional flora and fauna. Images from trips to Spain, Newfoundland, Costa Rico, the West Indies and Colorado are also on exhibit. The artist will demonstrate and discuss the integrity and preference for film versus digital photography, and framing and matting presentation of photography.
Three artists will be exhibiting their newest paintings and demonstrating their skills in 3 different mediums. Marion LeMoal will share the techniques she uses to achieve her bold, vibrant impressionist landscapes, depicting her travels here and abroad. Stan Spurlock will demonstrate the use of pastels to create an integrated well-balanced landscape composition. Known for her fluid transparent watercolors of flowers, Merla Tootle will demonstrate the keys to achieving this pure form of watercolor painting. Francis Street
Eastport artist, Rosemary Freitas Williams will demonstrate her watercolor techniques and exhibit her paintings of local scenes including architectural images, historical landmarks, gardens, and Spa Creek views showing the character of her hometown of Annapolis. City Dock
Patrick O’Brien will exhibit recent oil paintings in his “Age of Sail” series. The artist will be in attendance to discuss his paintings and recent books. A newcomer to the art scene in 2003 O’Brien’s first entry to the prestigious Mystic International Marine Art Exhibition won an Award of Excellence. Patrick has written and illustrated nine non-fiction books for children and will have some for gallery visitors to enjoy.
