Annapolis is a Top 25 Arts Destination as designated by American Style Magazine

The Annapolis Gallery Association is pleased to announce its 20th Annual Annapolis Art Walk to be held Thursday evening August 19th from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  The public is invited to join us in a festive evening enjoying the visual arts.  More than 20 galleries in downtown Annapolis are participating in this annual event, hosting new art exhibits and featuring artists demonstrating their skills in various media. There will be musicians around town and the galleries will be serving light refreshments.  Yellow balloons are posted at all participating galleries - maps and events listings will be available at each art gallery.

Annapolis, a Growing Art Gallery town

In 2010 the list of Art Galleries in downtown Annapolis is now numbering over 25!  Two new galleries opened last year: Niland Gallery and West Annapolis Art Works. Twenty five (25) galleries will be open and hosting exhibits and demonstrations the evening of the 19th for the Annual Annapolis Art Walk.

Annapolis has been frequently designated a Top 25 Arts Destination by American Style Magazine. The Art Walk is sponsored by The Annapolis Gallery Association which hopes to make the public aware of the diversity and quality of art in this growing center for the arts.  Over recent years the artist community in Annapolis has also expanded rapidly, spurred by the number of visitors to the city and also by the increased number of art galleries.  While traditional water and boating scenes are still big favorites, area artists in growing numbers are expressing their creativity through a wide variety of subject matter and styles of art.

Here is your chance to peek over an artist’s shoulder and watch them at work!  Artists working in oil, watercolor, ceramics, woodturning, sculpture, jewelry, handcrafts and more, will be demonstrating their skills at the Annapolis Art Walk. It promises to be an enjoyable summer evening for art lovers.

Add this event to your summer calendar of “must do”.  Annapolis is always a fun place to visit and the added attraction of events like the Art Walk only enhance its reputation as a city that is a joy to experience. This is a Rain or Shine event!

Parking is recommended at the Hillman Garage off Main Street, the Gotts Court Garage off Calvert Street or Northwest Street (by the Visitors Center) or the Knighton Garage at Colonial Drive and West Street or the State Legislative Garage on St. Johns Street. All the garages are a low flat rate after 4pm. The State Legislative Garage is open and free to the public only after 6pm on weekdays and Saturday and Sunday.
